Sneak preview of new fest
Rockport — On Aug. 18, an invited audience was treated to a sampling of what the new Camden Stage Festival hopes to offer in Camden next summer. LA-based James Darrah, CSF founder and director, and Kate Fletcher of Warren, the new company’s executive director, hosted the evening at Pascal Hall.
The festival, which will meld opera and other theatrical forms, is scheduled to present three productions in its premiere season next year: William Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” in Camden Amphitheatre and Harbor Park; Francesco Cavalli’s “La Calisto” in the Camden Opera House; and “The Tragedy of Carmen,” Peter Brook’s adaptation of the Bizet opera, in a found-space venue to be announced.
